Welcome to Montenegro

Montenegro belongs to the Central Mediterranean, as a part of Southern Europe. To the north it borders Serbia, to the southeast Kosovo and Albania, to the south it is separated from Italy by the Adriatic Sea and to the west it borders Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Occupy an area of 13 812 square kilometres, with borderline of 614 kilometres and unique coastline of 293 kilometres. Montenegro has a population of approximately 620,000 inhabitants.

The forerunners of present day Montenegro are the medieval principalities of Doclea and Zeta. Montenegro had some form of autonomy during the Turkish rule, and its independence from Turkey was confirmed at the Congress of Berlin in 1878. From 1918 it was part of all three Yugoslavia, before declaring independence on June 3, 2006.

Montenegro is small country, but one of Europe’s most beautiful destinations, offering an exceptional diversity of landscapes and experiences. Its coastal region features Adriatic coastline renowned for crystal clear sea, attractive beaches, and medieval seaside towns, while the continental region feature a rich cultural and historical heritage and the northern region spectacular featured mountains  and breathtaking natural landscapes.

Montenegro is best known for summer season, but it offers unique travel experiences  for every one seasons:

  • Spring: to experience blooming nature and mild weather tours;
  • Summer: to experience spots for beach beaches and festivals;
  • Autumn: to experience the country’s dramatic colors and hiking tours;
  • Winter: to experience skiing and snow adventures in the mountains.

Montenegro is divided into three regions: Southern (Coastal), Central (Continental) and Northern (Mountainous), and each one of these has special characteristics and its own story, so it can be quite challenging to decide where to go and what to see.
